417 primary fires occurred in educational premises in England during the 2024/25 financial year. Of these, 355 were accidental and 62 were deliberate. There were 18 non-fatal casualties, highlighting the ongoing importance of effective passive fire protection.

In five school fire incidents during 2024/25, the fire spread to the whole building, demonstrating how compartmentation measures, including correctly maintained fire doors, can be critical in limiting fire spread.

The UK Government continues to publish dedicated statistics on fire incidents in education premises, recognising schools as a key area for fire safety management and investment.

A 2026 survey of headteachers found that half of schools reported parts of their buildings were unusable or unfit for purpose due to building defects. One headteacher specifically stated that around 80% of their school's fire doors were non-compliant, illustrating the maintenance challenges some schools face alongside the education of fire door maintenance that needs to be addressed.

Wilberforce Sixth Form College

"Wilberforce Sixth Form College has worked on a number of large-scale building projects over the last few years. It is fair to say that Evolution Doors have been the best company we have worked with.

Everything is planned to the finest detail. Communication between parties is excellent and customer satisfaction is at the forefront in all aspects. The standard of the doors, finishings and decoration is superb. Staff have noted how the work is completed without any disruption to the working day. The internal spaces look far more professional due to the quality of the materials used and the safety of the buildings has improved vastly.

I would recommend this company without reservation."
