PASSIVE FIRE PROTECTION

Partnership & Installation

Fire stopping & Compartmentation

Fire stopping, also known as compartmentation, is a fundamental part of passive fireproofing. It refers to the process of filling openings and joints  between walls and floors with fire resistant material, inhibiting the spread of fire between 'compartments' within a building.

PFC TECHNICAL SERVICES LTD

Our affiliation with PFC Technical Services Ltd allows us to provide extensive expertise on the passive fire protection elements for timber floor constructions, as well as stud wall partitioning. All PFCTS Fire protection systems are supported with UKAS Accredited test data, independently tested by BRE Global.

PFCTS CW System

The PFCTS CW System is designed for installation within timber stud wall partitions of existing or new structures. This system is also ideal for the protection of older buildings where the existence of lath and plaster is present, where access is only available to one side.

Document B

The PFCTS CW System meets the current regulations of Document B for both integrity and insulation, providing a minimum 1 hour fire protection.

PFCTS CF System

The PFCTS CF System is designed for installation between floors for both new and existing buildings, to provide a minimum 1 hour fire protection for both integrity and insulation. Using basic tools, care and attention, it is relatively easy to install and is a cost-effective solution for your fire protection needs.

Tested Performance

The PFCTS CF System has been tested under BS476 part 21 & EN1365-2 and was tested with a 2.4kN/m2 applied to the floor for the entire duration of the tests. Both tests achieved a minimum 1 hour fire protection for integrity & insulation, and the installed system is not reliant on any part of the ceiling structure in meeting the fire rating minimum of 1 hour. This meets the current regulations of Document B.

A very straightforward system to install, which meets the current regulatory requirements for the passive fire protection to the dividing floors within the structure of the building.

Fire stopping methods & Products/ services provided:

Fire Sleeves: Pipes & Cables - Designed to fill the gaps in which pipes and cables penetrate walls, these of which could act as a pathway for fire to spread.

Fire collars: Pipes  and penetrations - Similar to sleeves, fire collars fill the gaps however they expand upon exposure to heat.

Fire covers: Ceilings  - Should a fire occur, the cover will immediately begin to expand internally and fill an entire space with a fire-resistant, insulating char.

Fire sealants & gap fillers: door frames, windows and gaps - Fire sealants and gap fillers prevent fire and smoke from spreading through spaces. When heated at high temperature, these fire stopping materials expand.

Traceability & Project Management

Similarly to that of door traceability, compartmentation and system installation is managed with the same platform. This is incredibly beneficial for projects that are composed of both doors and fire stopping. This allows us to provide a complete Fire Protection solution to any building with great management and visibility for the client.

We locate and manage our projects and doors via a platform called

This allows our employees on site to record the survey, snagging/ evidence of progression and completion photographs with notation, unique compartmentation & location numbers, material usage alongside a labelled map of the contract location. This allows us for complete traceability and transparency between both us and our clients, approvals are displayed to prove accountability and quality assurance.
